Learn to Live Adventurously with Live More Adventures

By Courtney Clark

Live More Adventures, an organization based in Hoboken, NJ, is striving to bring people together to enjoy the true outdoors. With three different packages from which to choose and a variety of activities involved, those who want to try something new in nature will find themselves having fun and letting loose.

Dave Skibinski and Nick Masino founded Live More Adventures based on their, well, love for adventure. After traveling often and enjoying the outdoors, the two decided to create an organization that would share these experiences with others. Additionally, Skibinski says, "People's dependence [on technology] and a loss of a sense for outdoor adventures" were also contributing factors. "It's certainly been disheartening over the years to see what constitutes as outdoor activity. We want people to achieve something real in the outdoors."

With LMA, guests can climb mountains, conquer rivers, and most importantly, enjoy the world around them.

"This whole project started out as social ski house and camping trips," Skibinski says. Yet today there are other activities available. Guests can choose from three current adventures: the Hudson Whitewater, Yoga, and Hiking Retreat; Paintball and Wine Tasting; and a Hike and Brewery Tasting. The first is a weekend trip that includes a campfire the first evening and the options to try whitewater rafting, hiking, and yoga throughout the weekend. People of all experience levels are welcome, and guests get to stay in upscale cabins, enjoy home-cooked meals, and more.

Paintball and Wine Tasting is just as it sounds: a day, the website explains, of "outdoor adrenaline," where you can "compete with new friends by pelting each other with rubber bullets." After, the group heads over to the Iron Plow Vineyards to wine down. The third option is a hike to Sunfish Pond on the Delaware Water Gap. The 5.5 mile guided hike provides a beautiful view with a stop at Jersey Girl Brewery along the way.

For each option, LMA staff offers the option to use their transportation from New York and Hoboken to the sites. The weekend retreat and the hike include food: the former serves dinner snacks, smores around the campfire, a power breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a Sunday brunch. For the hike, guests are provided with lunch at the brewery (but are encouraged to bring snacks for during the trip).

Try Live More Adventures to spice up your life and to get a taste of the true outdoors. Skibinksi loves getting people outdoors and seeing their reaction: "Magical moments happen when people turn off their phones and start living their lives," he says. His work is worthwhile "when we get to watch people forget about their daily distractions and become friends over a shared meaningful accomplishment."
