Home Moving Day Tips: An Interview with Jason Friedland of Shleppers Moving and Storage

By Jason Friedland

Moving is always an overwhelming event, and it seems that no matter how much you prepare what can go wrong, will. That's why we interviewed Jason Friedland of Shleppers Moving and Storage to learn more about the convenience of moving with professionals and get some inside moving day tips.

About Shleppers:

Shleppers is a full-service moving and storage company serving residential and commercial clients for nearly 40 years. We know from experience what sets us apart: straightforward communication and functional expertise. At Shleppers, you can expect exceptional customer service before, during, and after your move and a team of well-trained, experienced movers on moving day. When it comes to convenient, affordable, and stress-free moving, Shleppers always delivers.

When To Start Packing:

Depending on the size of your relocation you should start packing 1-2 weeks before your move date. Everything should be packed before the movers arrive. Alternatively, you can ask your sales representative to have the movers pack for you and customers are often surprised by what a good value it is.

Take an Inventory:

On moving day, the head mover will have a full copy of the inventory list that was communicated to your salesperson when your move was booked. You can review this inventory on the days leading up to your move to make sure it is accurate.

Preparing the New Home:

In your new home, pathways should be clear to ensure that the move goes as quickly and efficiently as possible. It is important to have the electricity turned on so that the movers can see all conditions.

Parking

Depending on your location, certain towns allow residents to obtain a parking permit to ensure a parking space on move day. In places where this cannot be done, the driver will search for a spot close to your location where items can be easily loaded/offloaded.

Shutting Off Electricity:

Electricity should be turned off after you have completely moved out of your space.

Aiding the Movers:

You should not physically help the movers but be available to answer any questions they may have.

Personal Tip:

Have a small and large empty box available for any last minute items.
