NNOWW Fitness Embraces Close Relationships with Clients for Weight Loss Success

By Kelly Church

NNOWW Fitness has been providing Little Neck, NY personal training fitness programs since 2014. Owners Marina Tsapelas and Nkem Oweazim wanted to "create a fitness program like no other in existence." Tsapelas and Oweazim bring two very different backgrounds to fitness. Tsapelas struggled with obesity for more than a decade, and Oweazim is a lifelong athlete.

Together, they developed NNOWW Fitness, which gives personal training sessions to clients in total privacy. There's never ore than three clients in the studio at one time, and trainers are invested in their clients' success.

"We do not focus on any gimmicks, products, extreme interventions or diet plans here at NNOWW Fitness," Tsapelas said. "This is not your typical personal training experience. This is what we would describe as lifestyle change facilitation."

Tsapelas said the gym staff understands that making a lifestyle change isn't easy, and it can be frustrating and often overwhelming. The first 30 to 60 days a member is active with NNOWW Fitness, the staff is constantly in contact with their clients to ensure success.

Tsapelas said method is how they maintain involvement in their clients' lives as clients get used to their new lifestyle. After already coming up with a plan during their first session, clients and trainers work together to steadily implement solutions for focus areas.

"Their first session is usually composed of going over a completed 50 questions current lifestyle survey with one of our trainers," Tsapelas said. "At this point, we had already identified areas of concern and focus. We go over changes that need to be made and set a plan in motion for the next 30, 60 and 90 days, during which we will be assessing, [educating] and empowering our clients to take complete control of their fitness, health and wellness."

Tsapelas understands first-hand what it takes to make a lifestyle change. The former school counselor used to weigh in at 320 pounds. After losing 160 pounds through personal training over a course of four years, she decided to help others have the same results she did.

"We meet every client where they are, are extremely supporting and understanding, but that in no way?does this translate to anything being easy," Tsapelas said. "We are simultaneously helpful and understanding while we find ways to progress and push you to limits you didn't even think you had in you when you picked up the phone to make your first appointment, and do it all with a smile."

According to Tsapelas, NNOWW Fitness tackles weight loss in three ways: mentally, physically and nutritionally. She described it as a "no mercy" approach that also provides essential support for each client.

"[What sets us apart is] how different we are and how invested we are in our clients success, where success is not only measured in the achievement of goals, but in overall client wellness in measures they never even knew to look for," Tsapelas said.
