Mold Guide

By Matea Shosho

Molds are one of the main problems you can have in your home. Not only is it distasteful to see, but it has the probability to be very unsafe for your health. A mold is a parasite that reproduces through spores. It needs three conditions to grow: a reasonable temperature, air moisture and a source of food. The only one you can control is moisture, simply because molds can use anything as a source of food and can grow easily in the moderate temperature of your house. A growth of mold, can cause serious damage to the structure of your house, and most importantly compromise your health.

The three types of molds that you need to watch out for are allergenic, pathogenic and toxic:

  • The allergenic mold hits sensitive people, and can be noticed because its symptoms are similar to those of hay fever. Allergenic mold also causes problems breathing, and irritation to any part of the respiratory tract.
  • Pathogenic mold is an issue for people with a weak immune system. It can become a dangerous infection.
  • Toxic mold creates extremely toxic chemicals that if inhaled can cause severe symptoms, and in certain cases even death.

If you see mold in your house, call a professional remover because it's likely that you don't know what kind it is. The exterminator will remove it, figure out what caused it and in the end you will work together to find a way to prevent it from returning.
